- Download the "My Spectrum" app from the App Store or Google Play store.
- Log into the app while connected to your Wi-Fi. Tap "Services" on the navigation menu at the bottom of the screen. Then tap "Router".
- Next, you'll see a screen showing your Router. Scroll to the bottom of the page and tap "Advanced Settings".
- Tap "DNS Server"
- Tap "Manage DNS"
- Copy the "Standard DNS Servers" from your "Settings Page" and paste into "Primary DNS Server" and "Secondary DNS Server". It doesn't matter which one you put in as Primary or Secondary. Tap "Save".
IMPORTANT: Your "Standard DNS Servers" may be DIFFERENT than the ones pictured here!
- IMPORTANT: You need to restart your router for the changes to take effect. Go to "Advanced Settings" and tap "Restart Router".
- Next, you will need to disable IPv6 DNS on individual devices (computers, laptops, tablets, phones) because Spectrum has no way to disable IPv6 (or specify our IPv6 server address) in their app. Use your favorite search engine to learn how to do this (e.g. "how to disable IPv6 on iPhone 10" etc). Please contact their senior-level executives to let them know that it is pointless to allow users to specify IPv4 DNS servers if they force THEIR IPv6 through.
- After your router has re-booted, verify that the filters are working by attempting to visit some sites on the abortion list.
