Hitron CGNVM-3589 - How to Set Up DNS Filters

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Please ensure that any Parental Controls available to you in your router administrative settings on are turned OFF.  They could cause conflicts with FreeFiltering.

You'll need to set up your Hitron router to use our "Standard DNS Servers" located on your "Settings" page:

  1. Go to http://192.168.0.1/ in your browser.
  2. Enter the username and password.
The default username should be cusadmin. The default password should be password.  (Unless you've customized them at some point in the past.)  If admin and password don't work, check your router box for a sticker that might list a different default username and password.  After successfully logging in, we recommend changing the password for logging into your router and storing it securely.  This will prevent someone from logging into your router and making unauthorized changes.
  3. On the navigation bar, click "Basic"
  4. Click "DNS".  Switch "DNS Obtain" to "Manual".  Enter the "Standard DNS Server" addresses found on your FreeFiltering "Settings" page as the DNS1 and DNS2 addresses.
Important Note:  Your "Standard DNS Servers" may be different than those pictured below.  Be sure to use the ones located on your "Settings" page!
  5. Click "Save Changes".

  6. After the new DNS settings have been applied, try visiting several of the abortion provider websites listed here to ensure your filters are working.
